Cubitt Town is a residential area on the Isle of Dogs in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in the East End of London. The district is on the east of the Isle and faces Greenwich across the River Thames. It is bounded by Canary Wharf to the northwest, by Millwall to the west and by Blackwall to the north. The area is named after William Cubitt, Lord Mayor of London between 1860 and 1862. The district was home for many years to a number of shipbuilders including Westwood, Samuda Brothers, Yarrow Shipbuilders, Baillie and J&W Dudgeon. The most notable ship launched in the area is HMS Prince Albert.
